About Rocksbox

Whether you're accessory addicted or a bit sparkle-shy, there's nothing like jewelry. When you put on the right piece, it transforms your whole look, along with your attitude. But that dazzling effect is impossible to experience from seeing a few pictures online. That's why founders Meaghan and Maia created Rocksbox: to help women everywhere enhance their style through an ever-rotating selection of jewelry, chosen for them and sent directly to their doors.

Meaghan started Rocksbox by lending pieces online from her own personal jewelry collection, and quickly saw a need among women to simplify the jewelry-shopping process. Before Rocksbox, Meaghan was a consultant with McKinsey & Co. and Bain & Co., leading product innovation and social media strategy for some of the largest consumer and retail brands around the world. Meaghan holds a BS in Economics from George Mason, an MS in Economics from Johns Hopkins, and an MBA from the Wharton School.

  • What is something you never leave the house without? My cell phone, adorned with an RB blue case of course
  • What is your guilty pleasure? Starbucks chai latte
  • Who's your favorite "bright" icon/inspiration? My grandmother. She worked on Capitol Hill when women weren't welcome in the workplace, she traveled around the world before it was cool, and even at 95 years old she reads the New York Times front to back every day!
  • Favorite place you've traveled? The top of Lion's Head Mountain in Cape Town is one of my favorite places on earth. I could sit there with that view forever!

Maia Bittner has worked at a handful of startups including Spock, a people search engine acquired by Intelius, and Hubspot, a marketing automation company that recently had its IPO. She holds a BSc in Engineering: Cognitive Science from the new and innovative Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering, and likes to use information about the way our brains work to design intuitive user interfaces.

  • Who are your style icons? My colleagues
  • What is your favorite Rocksbox piece? Samantha Wills Hudson necklace. When I first saw it, I thought that only the boldest fashionista could wear it. Eventually I tried it - it was the first statement necklace I’ve ever worn - and went on to try much more intense jewelry. Now, it serves as a reminder of how far I’ve come!
  • Favorite place you've traveled? Favorite place just to travel is Varanasi - though most of my traveling so far has been for rock climbing. I love climbing cliffs over the ocean: the sheer limestone cliffs in Vietnam, the Calanques in southern France, and even Mickey’s Beach right here in SF.
  • Favorite food/dish? Cheese! I was president of cheese club in college for 3 years, and often make cheese. My favorite dish is Paneer Makhani, which translates to “cheese in butter-cheese sauce."

She developed her merchandising skills through the training program at Bloomingdale's where she managed business for stores and for Bloomingdales.com. Jenn has an MBA from Wharton and a BS from Columbia, and was an investment banking analyst at Barclays Capital.

  • Who are your style icons? Kate Moss, Emmanuelle Alt
  • What is your guilty pleasure? The prime rib at Lawry's
  • Favorite movie? Love Actually is my favorite movie during the holidays.
  • Favorite place you've traveled? My favorite trip was hiking and camping through Antarctica for 7 days. It was amazing to be somewhere that was completely untouched and our guides said we were the only humans the penguins would see in their life. That was really incredible.
